Submissions for the 2026 Toad Press International chapbook series are now open, and we can't wait to read your translations!  
 
Review our Submission Information and FAQs for more details. When you're ready, send us your chapbook manuscript via Submittable. We are open for submissions through December 31, 2025, and we aim to make our choices for the 2026 series (publication in summer/fall 2026) by early February. 
 
We invite you to submit for free, choose to support our small press by paying a $6 reading fee, or pay the reading fee & purchase a chapbook from our impressive catalog when you submit.
 

When you're ready, head to Submittable and send us your work.

2022 Chapbooks!

 

We are so excited to share our 2022 lineup! We'll be publishing three excellent translations this year:

  • Void Odyssey, a book-poem-performance by Renato Negrão, translated from the Brazilian Portuguese by Sarah Rebecca Kersley
  • In the Gloom on the Left, poems by Joyce Mansour, translated from the French by Molly Bendall
  • The Seamstresses, creative nonfiction by Elena Poniatowska, translated from the Spanish by Rowena Galavitz

Thanks to all who shared your work with us this year during our annual open reading period -- we loved reading all the submissions we received!

2016 Open Reading Period

We have so much pleasurable reading & some difficult decision-making ahead, but we'll aim to finalize our 2017 chapbook selections very soon, and share the good news with you here in early February-ish. Please stay tuned....

2014 Open Reading Period



We're now open to your submissions!!!!! Please read our submission information for guidelines, then hop over to our submittable page and upload your work.

We'll remain open for submissions through December 31, 2014, so please take a look at our previous publications, hone your translation, and send it on over in the next couple of months. We look forward to reading your work! 


We've extended our reading period this year -- new deadline is 1/15/15! 

Update 2/1/15: Thank you all for sending your fantastic translations our way! If you haven't yet heard back from us about your submission, it's because we're still happily reading your work. We anticipate responding to all submissions by mid-February.

Submission Information

Toad Press accepts open submissions of chapbook-length translations for the International Chapbook Series each year between October 1 and December 31. We now accept submissions by email only. Send ~14-24 pages of poetry or prose, a cover sheet with name and contact information, table of contents (if applicable), and acknowledgements page (if applicable) to us at toadpress(at)hotmail(dot)com. Please attach your work as a .doc or .rtf file and put the word "submission" somewhere in the subject line of the email. Toad Press publishes between 1 and 3 chapbooks a year. Chapbooks accepted for publication will appear the following Summer/Fall. Payment is in copies only. There is no reading fee. Questions? Email toadpress(at)hotmail(dot)com
